welfare state is right. It's not related to gas prices strictly speaking, but I go to work every night and serve the recipients of our tax dollars and am utterly disgusted. I work in an emergency room in an urban setting where myself and the other staff are consistently abused verbally and physically by the scum of society and they all have one thing in common. The ultimate Cadillac plan: medicaid. Even though the gov't sets them up with primary care doctors, they never go because everything is an emergency to them, and they can get a free (to them) 750$ ambulance/taxi ride. When they show up to the ED they are raving like a lunatic because we put em in the waiting area (all our other beds are already full of medicaid rats by the time I get there usually). So they continue to incite a riot in the waiting area because their hang-nail is an emergency and they came in by "amber-lamps". That's basically just a prelude for the entire night, behaving in a way you or I would be ashamed to act in public these people are so rude, making demands for everything under the sun and when they are finally discharged they look at you and accuse you of stealing their 600$ phone and threaten to sue you, which they then find they dropped in the bed sheets, but don't apologize, just walk out the lobby and flash their medicaid card, No co-pay, free scripts, don't worry about the 1800$ bill you racked up for your pimple (oops I mean abscess) we'll forward it directly to the govt, and a cab ride home (and it better be here pronto). all made possible by the other 46% or so of us that actually pay taxes
